Korea just spent the morning arguing over a piece of pork-stuffed dough.

It started with a Japan-traveling food YouTuber named Lemonaid posting on X. Verdict: Japanese gyoza is genuinely delicious. Korea? "Nothing better than Bibigo's frozen royal mandu from the supermarket freezer." The whole Korean dumpling industry, gone in one post.

The Seoul metro area, where this YouTuber actually lives, has hundreds of dumpling shops. Locals immediately wanted to know if she'd visited even one of them.

A convenience-store reviewer with the handle @totheno1 fired back with a list of legitimate Korean dumpling spots — the kind of list locals have been quietly hoarding for years:

Why this hits different

Bibigo frozen mandu (~) really is everywhere in Korea — it's the default, sold by Samsung-affiliate CJ CheilJedang in literally every supermarket. It's fine. It's also nobody's actual favorite.

The joke is that anyone who's lived in Seoul knows there's a tiny shop somewhere where a halmeoni (grandma) has been folding 200 dumplings a morning for 30 years. You just had to actually leave the apartment.
